III. Cancellation & Refund Policy
1. Our Commitment
ElderTech PDX charges flat-rate pricing because we believe in transparency. This policy is designed to be fair to both our clients and our team, while reflecting the real costs of scheduling and dispatching in-home service visits.
2. Cancellations by the Client
More than 24 hours before the appointment: Full cancellation at no charge. No fee will be assessed.
Less than 24 hours before the appointment: A cancellation fee of 50% of the booked service rate may apply. This reflects the scheduling commitment made by our technician.
No-show or same-day cancellation (less than 2 hours notice): The full service fee may be charged. Our technician's time and travel cannot be recovered once they are dispatched.
Extenuating circumstances: We understand that life happens, especially for our senior clients. Medical emergencies, sudden illness, or other urgent circumstances will always be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us as soon as possible and we will work with you.
3. Cancellations by ElderTech PDX
If we need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, we will notify you as early as possible and reschedule at no additional charge. If a rescheduled time does not work for you, you will receive a full refund of any pre-paid amount.
4. Refunds
Service not performed: If you have pre-paid and the service is not performed due to an ElderTech PDX cancellation, you will receive a full refund within 5–7 business days.
Service partially completed: If a service visit is cut short due to circumstances outside the client's control, we will either complete the remaining work at no additional charge or issue a partial refund proportional to the work not completed.
Dissatisfaction: If you are not satisfied with the service provided, please contact us within 48 hours of the appointment. We will make reasonable efforts to resolve the issue, including a return visit at no charge for issues directly related to the original service. Refunds for completed services are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Out-of-area travel fees: Travel fees are non-refundable once a technician has been dispatched to a location outside our standard service area.
5. Same-Day Urgency Fee
The same-day urgency fee is non-refundable once the appointment is confirmed and a technician has been assigned, as it compensates for priority scheduling.
6. How to Cancel or Request a Refund
To cancel an appointment or request a refund, please contact us at info@eldertechpdx.com or call 971-302-2303 as soon as possible. Include your name, appointment date, and a brief description of the situation.
IV. Service Disclaimer
1. Nature of Services
ElderTech PDX provides technology support and education services on a best-efforts basis. While our technicians are experienced and thorough, technology is inherently unpredictable. We cannot guarantee specific outcomes, including but not limited to the resolution of all technical issues in a single visit.
2. Pre-Existing Conditions
Many devices and systems we encounter have pre-existing issues that are not immediately apparent. ElderTech PDX is not responsible for failures, malfunctions, or data loss that result from pre-existing hardware damage, software corruption, virus or malware infection, or age-related device degradation.
3. Data & Backups
ElderTech PDX strongly recommends that all clients back up their important data — including photos, documents, and contacts — before any service visit. While our technicians take every precaution, data loss can occur during routine technology work. ElderTech PDX is not liable for data loss that occurs in connection with a service visit.
4. Third-Party Services & Platforms
Many technology issues involve third-party platforms, applications, or services (such as email providers, social media platforms, internet service providers, or device manufacturers). ElderTech PDX has no control over these platforms and cannot guarantee their availability, performance, or policies. Our guidance regarding third-party services is informational and does not constitute an endorsement.
5. Device Age & Compatibility
Older devices may not support current software updates, operating systems, or applications. In some cases, a device may be too outdated to support the service requested. Our technicians will advise clients honestly if this is the case, and will not charge for a service that cannot be performed due to device limitations.
6. Scope of Work
Our technicians will perform the work as described and agreed upon at booking. Work that falls outside the original scope may require a separate appointment or additional fee. Our technicians will always communicate clearly before undertaking additional work.
7. Not a Substitute for Professional Advice
ElderTech PDX does not provide legal, medical, financial, or cybersecurity consulting services. Any guidance we provide regarding online safety, account security, or privacy is general in nature and should not be relied upon as professional advice in those fields.
8. Contact Us
If you have questions about any of these policies, please reach out at info@eldertechpdx.com or call 971-302-2303. We're here to help — in plain English, no jargon.
